Rules and Regulations for Daycare Services

To ensure the health and safety of your pet and of our other guests, we require that all of our clients comply with the following rules and regulations.

Age: All dogs must be at least 3 months of age or older. Puppies and shelter dogs must be in the home for 2 weeks prior to coming to daycare.

Alteration: All dogs over the age of 6 months must be neutered or spayed.

Vaccines: All dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations. Owner are required to provided up-to-date written proof that their dogs have current DHLPP (distemper), Rabies, and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccinations. Vaccines records are kept on file with City Dogs at all times.

Dog(s) health: All dogs must be in good health. Owners certify that their dog(s) are in good health and have not been ill in the last 30 days. On admission all dogs must be free from any condition that could potentially jeopardize other dogs. Dogs that have been ill with a communicable condition in the last 30 days will require veterinarian certification of health in order to be admitted or readmitted. Once admitted, please alert City Dogs' staff to any change in your dog's health that requires medication, even if we will not be required to administer it. If your dog(s) is/are not feeling well, please do not bring them to daycare.

Behavior: Owners certify that their dog(s) have not harmed or shown aggression or threatening behavior towards any person or other dog(s).

Application: All dogs must have a complete, up-to-date and approved application on file prior to attending daycare. There is a $7.00 non-refundable application-screening fee.

Charges: Due and payable in advance. Daycare packages are non-refundable and valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Half days cannot be deducted from full-day packages. Rates are subject to change at anytime without notice.

Days and Hours: City Dogs is open for daycare Monday - Friday from 7 AM to 7 AM and Saturdays from 8 AM-7 PM. Dogs may not be dropped off earlier than the scheduled opening times. In the event your dog(s) is/are picked up after 7:15PM, it is considered a late pick-up and you will be charged a fee of $5 up till 9 PM. After 9:15 PM, you cannot pick-up your dog(s); they will be required to board overnight.

Reservations: Reservations are required. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice and no-shows will be charged full fees.

Admittance of liability

I understand that I am solely responsible for any harm/damage caused by or to my dog(s) while my dog(s) is/are attending daycare and/or boarding at City Dogs.

I also understand and agree that in admitting my dog(s), City Dogs has relied on my representation that my dog(s) is/are in good health and have not harmed or shown aggressive or threatening behavior towards any person or any other dog. However, as this is a cage-free environment there are inherent risks that I accept. I understand that I will take full financial responsibility for harm/damage that my dog(s) may cause to other clients' dog(s) or people while released under the supervision of City Dogs and it's employees.

While my dog is in the care and custody of City Dogs and I am unreachable in the event of an emergency, I hereby authorize City Dogs, its agents, and/or representatives to seek immediate veterinary care for my dog.

I understand that all costs in connection therewith, including transportation, veterinary, medical, and otherwise, shall be my responsibility and I will herewith provide City Dogs with credit card information to be used for such purposes.

I further release and discharge City Dogs and its employees from any liability, claims and damages in connection therewith.

City Dogs reserves the right to permanently remove your dog from daycare or boarding at any time.

Rules and Regulations for Boarding Services

City Dogs offers cage-free boarding to dogs that meet the regular daycare requirements. Prior to boarding with us for the first time, your dog(s) must have spent at least one half-day in daycare. This "boarding trial day" is required so that we can get to know your dog(s) and ensure that City Dogs will be an appropriate environment for them. While boarding with us, dogs spend their day in the daycare and sleep uncrated at night. A staff member sleeps on the premises with the dogs at all times. Dogs that are destructive, or are keeping the staff member and/or the other dogs awake during the night will be crated. You may request that your dog(s) be crated at night if it is part of the dog's regular routine at home.

Reservations: Reservations are required. A credit card will be required to hold a reservation. No-shows will be subject to full payment of their dog's reserved stay. Unscheduled early pick-ups may also be required to pay for the entire anticipated stay. Please make boarding reservations as far in advance as possible to ensure a space for your dog.

Boarding Drop-off / Pick-up Times: Monday - Friday 7 AM to 7 PM, Saturday: 8 AM-7 PM Sunday: 8 AM-10 AM and 3 PM-7 PM

Food: Bring only enough food for the length of your dog's stay, medication if needed, and emergency contact information. All items should be clearly labeled with the dog's name. There is a charge of $2.00 per meal per dog if City Dogs provides food. It is preferable to bring your dog's own food so as not to upset their stomach.

Belongings: Do not bring personal items like bones or toys. As this is a cage-free environment, we cannot guarantee their return and the items cannot be shared with other dogs for sanitation reasons. We provide food/water bowls, measuring cups, treats, and toys.

Medications: Clearly label all medications and include written instructions with your dog's name, type of medication, dosage, and schedule. Please include only enough medication for the length of your dog's stay. Please alert us in advance if you know your dog will require medication. City Dogs reserves the right to refuse a dog for boarding if he/she is taking medication for a communicable illness.

This is a cage-less environment with a very rough and tumble environment and there is always the possibility of injury. The staff at City Dogs makes every effort to prevent injury, but it is not always avoidable; dogs play with their mouths so cuts, nicks, and scratches do occur. Very young dogs or extremely high-energy dogs often miss warning cues from other dogs and may be snapped at or bitten as a form of "correction."

City Dogs playrooms are cleaned at the end of each day from approximately 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM, during which time the dogs are crated.

Rules and Regulations for Walking Services

Vaccines: All dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations. Owners are required to provided up-to-date written proof that their dogs have current DHLPP (distemper), Rabies, and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccinations. Vaccines records are kept on file with City Dogs at all times.

Dog Licensing: The District of Columbia requires that all dogs be vaccinated and licensed. It is the sole responsibility of the owner to license your dog(s). If in the event that your dog(s) is/are cited for expired, missing, or no license the owner shall be solely responsible for the fines, pet confiscation, and/or other actions assessed by the District Government.

Adequate collar and leash: It is the sole responsibility of the owner to provide City Dogs with a safe, functioning, and durable collar and leash to use while walking your dog(s). Collars are required to have owner identification attached to them as well other proper tags including licensing and vaccination information. City Dogs is not responsibility for any damages, harm, fines, or negative consequences as a result of an owner's failure to provide an adequate collar, pet identification, and a leash restraint while in the custody of City Dogs and it's employees.

Service Hours: City Dogs offers walking services Monday - Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM and weekends / evenings by appointments only.

Reservations: Reservations are required. Cancellations prior to arrival of the walker will not be charged, failure to cancel a reservation prior to the arrival of your walker will be charged full walk fees.

Admittance of liability

I understand that I am solely responsible for any harm/damage caused by or to my dog(s) while my dog(s) is/are in the care of City Dogs.

I also understand and agree that in admitting my dog(s), City Dogs has relied on my representation that my dog(s) is/are in good health and have not harmed or shown aggressive or threatening behavior towards any person or any other dog. I also understand that my dog will be walked on shared public sidewalks and streets and there are inherent risks that I accept. I understand that I will take full financial responsibility for harm/damage that my dog(s) may cause to other dog(s) or people while released under the supervision of City Dogs and it's employees.

While my dog is in the care and custody of City Dogs and I am unreachable in the event of an emergency, I hereby authorize City Dogs, its agents, and/or representatives to seek immediate veterinary care for my dog.

I understand that all costs in connection therewith, including transportation, veterinary, medical, and otherwise, shall be my responsibility and I will herewith provide City Dogs with credit card information to be used for such purposes.

I further release and discharge City Dogs and its employees from any liability, claims and damages in connection therewith.
