Rules and Regulations for Walking Services
Age: All dogs must be at least 3 months of age or older. Puppies and shelter dogs must be in the home for 1 week prior to walking.
Vaccines: All dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations. Owners are required to provided up-to-date written proof that their dogs have current DHLPP (distemper), Rabies, and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccinations. Vaccines records are kept on file with City Dogs at all times.
Dog Licensing: The District of Columbia requires that all dogs be vaccinated and licensed. It is the sole responsibility of the owner to license your dog(s). If in the event that your dog(s) is/are cited for expired, missing, or no license the owner shall be solely responsible for the fines, pet confiscation, and/or other actions assessed by the District Government.
Adequate collar and leash: It is the sole responsibility of the owner to provide City Dogs with a safe, functioning, and durable collar and leash to use while walking your dog(s). Collars are required to have owner identification attached to them as well other proper tags including licensing and vaccination information. City Dogs is not responsibility for any damages, harm, fines, or negative consequences as a result of an owner's failure to provide an adequate collar, pet identification, and a leash restraint while in the custody of City Dogs and it's employees.
Dog(s) health: All dogs must be in good health. Owners certify that their dog(s) are in good health and have not been ill in the last 30 days. On admission all dogs must be free from any condition that could potentially jeopardize other dogs. Please alert City Dogs' staff to any change in your dog's health that requires medication, even if we will not be required to administer it. If your dog(s) is/are not feeling well, please notify us immediately.
Behavior: Owners certify that their dog(s) have not harmed or shown aggression or threatening behavior towards any person or other dog(s).
Application: All owners must have a complete, up-to-date and approved application on file prior to providing walking services. There is a $7.00 non-refundable application fee.
Charges: Due and payable in advance. Walking packages or monthly contracts are non-refundable and valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Rates are subject to change at anytime without notice.
Service Hours: City Dogs offers walking services Monday - Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM and weekends / evenings by appointments only.
Reservations: Reservations are required. Cancellations prior to arrival of the walker will not be charged, failure to cancel a reservation prior to the arrival of your walker will be charged full walk fees.
Admittance of liability
I understand that I am solely responsible for any harm/damage caused by or to my dog(s) while my dog(s) is/are in the care of City Dogs.
I also understand and agree that in admitting my dog(s), City Dogs has relied on my representation that my dog(s) is/are in good health and have not harmed or shown aggressive or threatening behavior towards any person or any other dog. I also understand that my dog will be walked on shared public sidewalks and streets and there are inherent risks that I accept. I understand that I will take full financial responsibility for harm/damage that my dog(s) may cause to other dog(s) or people while released under the supervision of City Dogs and it's employees.
While my dog is in the care and custody of City Dogs and I am unreachable in the event of an emergency, I hereby authorize City Dogs, its agents, and/or representatives to seek immediate veterinary care for my dog.
I understand that all costs in connection therewith, including transportation, veterinary, medical, and otherwise, shall be my responsibility and I will herewith provide City Dogs with credit card information to be used for such purposes.
I further release and discharge City Dogs and its employees from any liability, claims and damages in connection therewith.
City Dogs reserves the right to permanently remove your dog from our dog walking service at any time.
